Aged Care Communities Rally Nationwide for Red Shield Appeal

It's been an exciting few weeks in Aged Care with events and activities organised in support of the Red Shield Appeal occurring across the country to raise funds and awareness about this important Salvos fundraising campaign.

At Bethany Aged Care Centre in Port Macquarie, NSW, Chaplain Donna Austin got into the creative spirit by putting together a 'Pick a Red Shield' board with prizes inside for residents.

Chaplain Cynthia Liedtke-Aidar at Woodport Aged Care Centre and Retirement Village in Erina, NSW, gathered Independent Living Unit residents in the recreation room for a morning team to mark the occasion too.

James Barker House Aged Care Centre in Footscray, VIC, marked the occasion with a strawberry pancake afternoon tea and a prize for the staff and resident best dressed in red attire. The Centre is also raising funds for Westside Melbourne Salvos - Sunshine Corps.

At Weerooona Aged Care Centre in Bass Hill, NSW, residents and staff had a visit from Shieldy with smiles all round. Weeroona staff members were encouraged to dress in red on the day of the visit and they handed out packs of red lollies with a card printed with the Salvos shield and "Thank God for the Salvos" on it.

Shieldy visited each Weeroona resident and gave out the lollie bags with residents encouraged to wear a red ribbon on their sleeves - which most of them did.
